Manipulation is a constant temptation, isn’t it?
Especially if you KNOW that you are more clever than your opponent.
It’s fun to see what you can get away with,
How long it takes them to catch on.
But, here’s the thing:
Virtue isn’t just a fad, some kind of outdated social agreement.
Virtue is knowing that your outward actions match your inner standards–
Or, at least you’re aspiring and practicing towards that.
After all, if your orientation is always towards conning your opponent,
or “pulling one over” on the Universe,
What are you REALLY expecting, in response?
Do you expect to get ahead?
Maybe you will. But–
You rob a little bit of your own soul,
Every time you cut loose and cut corners.
You rob yourself of really investing in your experience,
And experiencing the heartfelt gratitude and appreciation of others.
